Guest Lecture by Erion Veliaj, the Mayor of Tirana

The Eastern European Students Association has the pleasure to invite you to an event organized together with the Embassy of Albania in the Netherlands. The mayor of Tirana, Mr. Erion Veliaj, will give a speech on the EU integration process and its transformative effect on the every-day life of not only Albania, but the entire Western Balkans region. The interconnecting Berlin Process which envisages unification of Western Balkan markets and other political and economical developments will also be a central element in the speech.

At the end, a reception will be organized, during which you have the chance to interact with the Mr. Veliaj, embassy officials, and other participants. Drinks and snacks will be served.

Mr. Erion Veliaj was elected as the 42nd Mayor of Tirana in June 2015. Prior to his tenure, Veliaj served as a Member of Parliament and Minister of Social Welfare and Youth from 2013 through 2015. Veliaj has earlier had a long experience as the leader and founder of the movement “MJAFT”, a civic organization which gained huge popularity for its highly efficient and novel methods of peaceful protest. Veliaj holds a Master’s degree in European Integration from the University of Sussex, UK and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the Grand Valley State University, Michigan.
